Every year, right around this time, insect and wildlife start to pick up. Now that the weather is warmer and the wet winters are mostly over, these animals and bugs start to show back up again, and that means that your largely pest free home is now more likely to see insects coming inside.
But this year, we may be in for a summer that is a little bit worse than we’ve seen in the past few years. That’s because we’ve had:
- Warmer Summer
- Consistent Late Winter Rains
Typically in the Roseville and Rocklin area, even though it gets hot during the summer, the winters tend to be fairly cold with most rain coming between November and early January, when pests are mostly dormant.
But what we had this year was a warmer winter, which means an earlier bloom and more more food for insects to start spreading, feeding, and breeding. We also hate a late winter rain. The rain itself was unremarkable at about 4 to 6 inches, but because it has come so consistently and so late in winter, if you look outside you’ll see that most plants are thriving right now, and that means that there is even more food for pests to get the nourishment they need.
